Overview


Mount Kailash, a hallowed sanctuary in Western Tibet, draws thousands of Hindu pilgrims and adventurers annually. Soaring to over 22,000 ft, it’s one of the world’s holiest sites, yet among the least frequented. This revered peak, believed to be Lord Shiva’s abode by Hindus, remains unconquered due to religious reverence. Other faiths also venerate Kailash, including the Bon and Jain traditions.

Itineraries


Day 01: Arrival at Kathmandu (TIA) and transfer to the Hotel. 1300m

You will be picked up from one of our representative at HimalayanWindows Tours and escorted you from the airport to transfer to the hotel. If time permits, we will visit Pashupatinath Temple at evening. Overnight at hotel.

Day 02/03: Kathmandu Valley Sightseeing Tour: Visa Preparation Day

You will have guided sightseeing in major places of Kathmandu valley such as Pashupatinath Temple, Bauddhanath Stupa and Budhanilkantha. In the afternoon, our manager from HW Tours will brief you about your trip to Holy Mount Kailash. Overnight at Hotel.

We will need two complete days for the visa preparation. We will collect visas on day 3 and proceed to the border the same day. 

Day 04: Drive Kathmandu to Kerung/Kyirong via Syabrubensi (6-7 Hrs -160km/ 3,500m)

Drive to Kerung/Kyirong Border from Kathmandu via Shyabrubensi. Begin your trip early in the morning from Kathmandu to enter Tibet in the same day. After necessary immigration formalities in Nepal and Tibet both sides. Enter Tibet, meet Tibetan guide and drive to Kerung/Gyirong. Overnight at basic Guest house

Day 05: Acclimatization day in Kerung/Kyirong.

Acclimatization day in Kerung to adjust your body again AMS. Attend short hiking around the valley that really helps body to adjust on altitude. Take Lunch and Rest at the Guest house. Overnight at Guest house.

Day 06: Drive to Saga (230km – 6 hours) 4450m.

You will be driving via high passes with panoramic Mountain View on high Tibetan land with several amazing Buddhist praying flags at the top of passes. Stop and view several lakes on the way to Saga. Arrive at Saga by crossing Brahmaputra River. Overnight at Guest house

Day 07: Drive to Lake Mansarovar (370km – 7 Hours) 4580m

Your Journey start with full of excitement to see first view of Mount Kailash and lake Mansarovar. Arrive at small town Chiu Gumba for overnight. You also can visit Chiu monastery at top hill near bank of the Mansarovar Lake. Overnight at guest house

Day 08: Exploration around Mansarovar and drive to Darchen (40km – 1 hour) , the base of Kailash Mountain.

Preparation of Kailash Kora (Circle). Get morning Sunrise view of lake Mansarovar. You will spend more than half day and drive to Darchen for overnight. Bath with Mansarovar water is preferable with most of the pilgrimage. Puja or hawan at bank of the lake for Hindu Pilgrims, exploration of hot spring near from chiu Gumpa. Overnight at Guest house

Day 09: Drive to valley of the God and start Kailash Kora (Circle). Reach Dirapuk (18km – 7 Hours) 4900m.

We will start early drive from Darchen after your breakfast. Our staff will provide you packed lunch for on the way. Drive to valley of the god which is also called Yamadwar. Start walking towards Dirapuk. Walking trail is flat land and some minor up hills. Arrive at Dirapuk and have north face of mount Kailash. Overnight at Guest house

Day 10: Second day of Kailash Kora, reach at Zuthulpuk (4760m) via Drolma La pass, 5613m. (19km – 9 Hours)

Today is the hardest and most important day of this holy trip. Begin your walk very early in the morning. Hardest ascend till Drolma La pass and suddenly descent towards Gauri Kunda and further trek to Zuthulpuk. You will view different faces of Mount Kailash time and again. Overnight at Guest House

Day 11: Last/End of Kailash Kora. Drive back to Saga (16km walk with 3 hrs and Drive

We will take easy and gentle walk towards Darchen from Zuthulpuk. Get your transportation waiting for you and drive back to Saga via Darchen on the same day. On the way you will have chance to take holy water from holy Mansarovar Lake. Overnight at Guest house

Day 12: Drive back from Saga to Kerung/Kyirong

Within the same way drive back to Kerung from Saga. Overnight at Kerung Guesthouse

Day 13: Drive back to Kathmandu via Syabrubensi (7-8 hrs)

After custom formalities on both side of Tibet and Nepal, we will arrive at Nepal side, pick up by Nepalese team and transportation to be back to Kathmandu. it is 8 to 9 hours journey through narrow road. at Kathmandu and transfer to Hotel.

We will provide cultural dinner in the evening at the Nepalese Typical restaurant with cultural show in Kathmandu as a Complementary with Thank You!

Day 14: Departure Home

You will be free to look around for shopping and souvenirs. Drive to the airport (3 hours prior to your flight time); happily back to your home or onward destination.
