Overview


Mount Kailash, a revered pilgrimage site in Western Tibet, stands as a majestic black rock, reaching a staggering 22,000 ft. It’s among the world’s holiest places yet remains one of the least explored. Thousands of pilgrims annually circle this sacred peak, honoring its religious significance. Additionally, experience the spiritual grandeur of the Saga Dawa Festival, a cherished Tibetan tradition celebrated during the Full Moon.

Itineraries


Day 01: 18 May (SAT): Drive from Kathmandu to Kerung Border (6-7 Hrs -155km/ 2,500m) O/N at Guest House

  • Start the day by driving from Kathmandu to the Kerung border, a journey of approximately 155km and 7-8 hours.
  • Arrive at the Kerung border and check in at the Guest house.
  • Overnight stay at the Guest House in Kerung.

 

Note: We expect you to arrive 3-4 days before your trip begins to process the Tibet Group Visa in Kathmandu. TGV can only be issued in Kathmandu for non-Indian nationals (Rules are subject to change).

Day 02: 19 May: Rest for Acclimatization in Kerung O/N at Guest House

  • Spend the day at Kerung for acclimatization and rest.
  • Take the opportunity to explore the local surroundings and adjust to the altitude.
  • Overnight stay at the Guest House in Kerung.

Day 03: 20 May: Drive to Saga (230km – 6 hours) 4400m.O/N at Guest House.

  • Depart from Kerung and drive to Saga, covering a distance of 230km in about 6 hours.
  • Arrive at Saga and check in at the Guest House
  • Overnight stay at the Guest House in Saga.

Day 04: 21 May: Drive to Lake Mansarovar (370km – 7 Hours) 4500m O/N at Guest House.

  • Continue the journey by driving to Lake Mansarovar, a distance of 370km that takes approximately 7 hours.
  • Arrive at Lake Mansarovar and check in at the Guest House.
  • Take some time to explore the area and consider taking a holy bath in the lake.
  • Overnight stay at the Guest House near Lake Mansarovar

Day 05: 22 May: Explore Mansarovar, take a holy bath and Drive to Darchen: 40KM

  • Explore Lake Mansarovar and its surroundings
  • Take a holy bath in the lake, if desired.
  • Later, drive to Darchen, covering a distance of 40km.
  • Arrive at Darchen and check in at the accommodation.
  • Overnight stay at Darchen.

Day 06: 23 May: Attend SagaDawa Festival at Tarboche. O/N at Guest house.

  • Attend SagaDawa Festival at Tarboche
  • Immerse yourself in the festivities and witness the cultural and religious celebrations.
  • Stay overnight at the Guest House in Darchen.

It’s only about 50 Kilometers to reach Tarboche, the driving time is one and half-hour. Tarboche is the main place for the performance of the Saga Dawa Festival. Enjoy the Festival the whole day and drive back to Darchen. Stay overnight at the basic guest house in Darchen. Accommodation at Darchen is in high demand on that day and we may have to drive to another place if necessary. The guide will make the right decision if necessary.

Day 07: 24 May: Drive to the valley of God and start Kailash Kora (making Circle). Reach Dirapuk (18km – 7 Hours) 4800m. Guest house/Tented Camp

  • Begin the Kailash Kora, the circumambulation of Mount Kailash.
  • Drive to the Valley of God and start the trek.
  • Reach Dirapur, covering a distance of 18km in approximately 7 hours.
  • Check-in at the Guest House or Tented Camp in Dirapuk.
  • Overnight stay at Dirapuk.

Day 08: 25 May: Second day of Kailash Kora, reach at Zuthulpuk (4760m) via Drolma La pass, 5634m. (19km – 9 Hours) Guest house/Tented Camp

  • Continue the second day of the Kailash Kora.
  • Trek to Zuthulpuk via the challenging Drolma La Pass at an elevation of 5634m.
  • Cover a distance of 19km in about 9 hours
  • Arrive at Zuthulpuk and check in at the Guest House or Tented Camp.
  • Overnight stay at Zuthulpuk.

Day 09: 26 May: Last day of Kailash Kora/End of Kailash Kora. Drive back to Saga (16km walk with 3 hrs and Drive to Darchen then to Saga O/N at Gust House.

  • Complete the Kailash Kora, reaching the endpoint.
  • Walk approximately 16km for about 3 hours.
  • Drive back to Saga.
  • Arrive at Saga and check in at the Guest House.
  • Overnight stay at the Guest House in Saga.

Day 10: 27 May: Drive back from Saga to Kerung O/N at Guest House

  • Drive from Saga to Kerung.
  • Enjoy the scenic journey back, covering a distance of approximately 7-8 hours.
  • Arrive at Kerung and check in at the Guest House.
  • Overnight stay at the Guest House in Kerung.

Day 11: 28 May: Drive back to Kathmandu via Syabrubensi (7-8 hrs) end tour.

  • Continue the return journey from Kerung to Kathmandu via Syabrubensi.
  • Drive for about 7-8 hours to reach Kathmandu.
  • End of the tour upon arrival in Kathmandu.
