Hiring Trip Gear in Nepal
If you’re planning a trek, it’s wise to bring your own hiking boots, comfortable clothing, and a camera. However, you can easily find other essential gear in Kathmandu, including day packs, duffel bags, walking sticks, and 4-season sleeping bags. While the latter may seem like overkill for a trekking lodge, a sleeping bag rated -7 to 10 C should suffice and not be too bulky. Layering rather than wearing one heavy outer layer is a better option, as temperatures can fluctuate significantly from morning to night. If you’re looking to rent any gear, there are many trekking shops in Thamel, Kathmandu. Before making a decision, be sure to compare the cost of renting to that of buying – you may find it’s cheaper to purchase.
