Nagarkot is considered the most popular hill station around Kathmandu valley to enjoy the magnificent sunrise and sunset with spectacular Himalayan views. Located approximately 2000 meters above sea level and 28 km from Kathmandu international airport, Nagarkot is a hill station commanding breathtaking views of the majestic Himalayas, rolling hills, deep valleys, lush pine forests in a quaint rural atmosphere. There is a view tower that provides an unparalleled view of green hills and mountains. For those who wish to return to Kathmandu while enjoying the backdrop of the Himalayas, there is a hiking trail that leads to Sankhu. One could also hike to Changu Narayan Temple, Chisapani, Dhulikhel, Dhulikhel, and Melamchi. Situated in a strategic location, Nagarkot was an ancient fort of the Kathmandu valley to monitor the external activities of other kingdoms. Later, it became a summer retreat place for the Royals before becoming popular as a hill station.
