You will arrive at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA), after completing immigration and customs formalities, our representative from HimalayanWindows will greet you and escort you to the hotel.  The afternoon is for the rest and the last hour of shopping for your adventure trek to EBC. Our manager will brief you about your adventure trek to Everest Base Camp. Or you may take walking with your guide to become more familiar with the town.

Overnight at the hotel.

If you are landing late in the afternoon/evening, we suggest keeping one extra day in Kathmandu before leaving for the trek. On this day, we prepare for the trek and buy essentials gears in Kathmandu.

At very early in the morning (Guide will explain the flight time); drive to the domestic airport to take a scenic flight to Lukla, the main entrance to the Khumbu region. Upon your arrival at Lukla airport, you will be greeted by our local staff and our supplies, gears will be taken by porters or loaded onto yaks, then your adventure trek begins with a 3-4 hours trek down through terraced hillsides and stone fences to the Dudh Koshi river and you will cross the suspension bridge with several prayer flags to our first halt at Phakding. Remember the say Buddhists prayer “OM Mani Padme Hum” during the monastery visit and be sure to walk clockwise around these special “Mani (Prayer) Stones. Overnight at Phakding

This is the toughest hiking day as you will hike through rolling terrain, plowed fields, traditional homes, pine forests, and Dudh Koshi River with several suspension (hanging) bridges. Ascending to the entrance of Sagarmatha national park, the snowy view of peak Thamserku (6608m) gives us a complete taste of the supreme mountain scenery to come. After hiking for almost 6 hours via Monjo and taking lunch on the way, you will have your final step to Namche Bazar, the Sherpa Village. You will spend 2 nights in Namche Bazar for acclimatization. Overnight at Namche

This is your rest day at Namche Bazzar for acclimatization. It means to stay to gain strength and get familiar with altitude. After breakfast, we go for a hike for a couple of hours to maybe Everest View hotel or Syangboche to enable our bodies to better adjust to the altitude before continuing the ascend. We can also enjoy the snowy view of Kwangde (6380m), Thamserku (6608m) and Kangtega (6685m). When we ascend for a day hike, the peaks Nuptse (7861m), Lhotse (8414m), Ama Dablam (6856m), and even Mount Everest (8848m). The day can be spent wandering around the Namche Bazar, shopping around, having good coffee, playing snooker/cards and etc. Overnight at Namche

This route from Namche to Tengboche is also kind of spiritual because of several monasteries and temples. The trail heads through Kayangjuma towards Sansa and the pine forest before reaching Tengboche. You will visit Tengboche Monastery, the spiritual center of Khumbu situated at an elevation of 3860m. Overnight at Tengboche

You will trek to Dingboche up to the elevation of 4360m and trek for almost 6 hours. You will also be crossing suspension bridges from where a spectacular view of snowy mountains including Ama Dablam can be seen. The valley begins slowly to open up as you reach the confluence of the Lobuche River, a steep ascend across the river brings you to Dingboche; the gateway to Imja Tso (Island Peak). Overnight at Dingboche

This is another rest day during your Everest Base Camp trekking, you will need to adjust an altitude again as you will be ascending up to 5000m now. A short hike around Dingboche gives you the strength and capacity to adapt to the local weather. Overnight at Dingboche

On this day, you will hike to Lobuche which lies at an elevation of 4840m, on the way to Lobuche, you pass through a number of stone memorials to honor climbers who failed to attempt to make it to Mount Everest. This route offers stunning views of Nuptse, Cholatse, Thamserku, and several other jaw-dropping mountain views. When the train reaches to Khumbu Glacier moraine, you will have the closest view of the Khumbutse, Lingtren, Pumori, and Mahalangur Himal. Overnight at Lobuche

This day is the most awaited and thrilling day of your trek to EBC. After breakfast, you will hike to Gorakshep (The last settlement on this EBC trekking), you will take lunch at Gorakshep and hike up to the amazing Khumbu Icefall and you will trek to Everest Base camp; spend about an hour exploring the campsite which is gifted by scenic natural beauty. After an exploration of EBC, trek back to Gorakshep. Spend a night at Gorakshep

Early in the morning (before the sun rises); hike to Kalapatthar (5545m) and this is the highest point of this trek from where the magnificent mountain views can be seen in front of you. This is an excellent viewpoint of Mount Everest including Pumori, Nuptse, Lhotse and etc. After spending an hour on the viewpoint, trek back to Gorakshep; eat breakfast, and trek down to Pheriche. Overnight at Pheriche

This day is another day of descending with views of Mount Everest, Lhotse, and Amadablam. We descend to Deboche and short trek to Tengboche Monastery. We will continue descending to Dudh Koshi River and then climb for 1 and half hours to Kyangjuma for lunch. We will finish our trek with a gradually descending walk from Kyangjuma to Namche Bazar. Overnight at Namche

You will leave Namche Bazaar and get a big descent to Phakding; you will have plenty of scenic photos if the weather is clear. And further descending to Lukla as we begin with a descent, the climb to end the trip of our adventure of a lifetime! Overnight at Lukla

Note: Keep a few days gap before flying to Bhutan in Kathmandu. Due to Lukla flight uncertainty; you can do Kathmandu, Bhaktapur Patan City Sightseeing Tours in between.

Flying to Paro is one of the most spectacular of all mountain flights. Whether flying along with the Himalayan range from Kathmandu or over the foothills, each flight is a mesmerizing feat and offers exciting descent into the Kingdom. On arrival at the airport received by our representative and transferred to Thimphu, the modern capital town of Bhutan. Overnight at the hotel in Thimphu.

There are a good many places to see in the capital which have a very peaceful, laid-back feel about them. Thimpu is a moderately small city having a population of approximately 80000 people and the streets are wide and tree-lined. You will almost surely visit the Late King’s Memorial Chorten, the National Library, Drubthob Nunnery, Folk Heritage Museum, the handmade paper factory, the school of arts and crafts where young students learn the traditional arts and crafts (Zo Rig Chusum – the thirteen crafts), Gold and the Silver Smiths workshop, Zangtopelri Lhakhang, and the Handicraft Emporium and the local handicraft centers to see the weavers at work and also varieties of textiles, thangka paintings, masks, jewelry, etc

Afternoon you can also visit Thimpu Dzong which is the administrative headquarter of Bhutan.

Late afternoon drive to Paro for overnight stay.

After breakfast hike to Taktsang (Tiger’s Nest) Monastery, which is Bhutan’s most famous monastery. It is perched on the edge of a steep cliff, about 900 meters above Paro Valley. The hike to reach the viewpoint of the monastery makes for a nice half-day excursion. After lunch, you can visit another important site which you could not complete on the previous days.

After lunch, a tour of Bhutan’s national museum, a fascinating place housed in an old watchtower above the huge Paro Dzong (monastery/fortress). The museum holds a fantastic collection of Bhutanese national treasures ranging from ancient armor to textiles and thangka paintings. Then, we drive to the head of the valley and visit Drukgyel Dzong built in a location that was chosen for its control over the route to Tibet. An amazing view of Mount. Jumolhari (23,996ft /7314m) can be visibly seen from here. Also, visit Rinpung Dzong and a typical Bhutanese farmhouse.

After early breakfast in the hotel, drive to the airport to connect flight for onward destination. Your trip ends in Kathmandu. Farewell with a happy face!

I’m a single male and having no experience with trekking, I decided to throw myself in the deep end and do Everest base camp trek. Rather than wanting to do it in a group, I decided to do it solo and have my own tour guide and porter. Bhutan has always been on my bucket list and due to the limited places you can fly from, once I was Kathmandu, I just had to go. Being expensive, I went for the minimum 2-night stay.

You can drive yourself mad looking for tours to base camp but I came across Himalayan windows (as they offered my perfect tour of Base Camp and 2 night Bhutan) and messaged them straight away. A swift reply from Anup and I felt the personal touch straight away rather than messages I received back from standard tours. I drove him mad with numerous questions and a couple of days later had a long conversation on the phone and he put all my worries at ease. I just had to make everything was in place as I have no experience any trekking let alone one of this magnitude. Anup was the man for this
I booked my flights to Kathmandu, told him the dates of when I was arriving and leaving and he literally sorted out everything for me from hotels, guide, porter, Bhutan flights, Bhutan visas, all travel to and from the airport so I had nothing to worry about.

I already felt like I knew Anup as a friend beforehand from all our conversations, but Anup personally met me at the airport and then met me later that evening in a bar Kathmandu to get me all the details and introduce me to my porter. I was so happy I booked it through him already and I knew I made the right choice.

The next day, my porter Bibek and I flew together to Lukla, met my tour guide Sonam and the next 10 days was just unbelievable. Never alone for one minute, always meeting people from around the world in the teahouses, and with help of Sonam and Bibek, who were 2 of the funniest, caring, and giving people you could meet, my trek was one of the highlights of my life so far.

On my arrival back to Kathmandu, once again Anup picked me up from the airport and took me to my hotel. I had 2 nights before leaving for Bhutan. The night before I was going, Anup sent a representative to my hotel to give me a lowdown on Bhutan, my flight confirmations, and visas. The next morning Anup made arrangements for me to be taken back to the airport. 2 nights in Bhutan was amazing just to see such a different culture, and of course, the highlight being the trek to Tigers nest monastery. I took a horse halfway as the last thing I wanted to do was another trek.
I was again picked up from the airport and back to Kathmandu for my last night before flying back to London. To my surprise, the next morning Bibek had come in a taxi to take me to the airport. I felt like I had made 3 good friends and have stayed in contact with all 3 of them since back in London.

Overall, all I can say is don’t hesitate to book with Himalayan windows. It’s the best thing I did and Anup is the nicest man you could possibly meet. I hope his business thrives and he does very well as he deserves it. Good luck and thanks for the trip of a lifetime

Accommodation: Accommodation is typically provided in twin rooms in cities, though a single supplement can be requested for an additional fee. During peak season, it can be difficult to find single or twin rooms in the mountains, so our lodges usually offer dormitory-style accommodation. Our priority is always to provide clean and safe rooms for our guests.

Meals: Our packages in Bhutan include full board meals, with breakfast, lunch, and dinner included. For treks, all meals are provided, but you will need to pay extra for drinking water and snacks.

Once you arrive at Paro Airport, your passport will be stamped with the original visa.

Tibet Group Visa (TGV): All travelers from any nation intending to go to Tibet from Nepal must obtain a Tibet Group Visa (TGV) in Kathmandu with the help of a tour operator. To ensure the successful application of the TGV, you should plan to arrive in Kathmandu 3-4 working days before your travel date. If you are coming from China, you will not require a TGV; instead, you will need a Chinese Visa and Permit. To find out more about the process of entering Tibet, please look into the Tibet entry procedure.

Nepal & Bhutan: Visiting Nepal and Bhutan at the same time is ideal as they share a similar climate. From high mountains to low land sub-tropical plains and jungles, the two countries have similar weather. The best time to visit is from March to April (spring) and October to December (autumn and early winter). During these months, the air is clean and fresh with sunny skies. January and February are colder months, while June, July, and August (summer) are typically monsoon seasons.

Tibet: It is best to visit Tibet between April and October when the weather is warm and the skies are clear. However, from November to March, it is still possible to explore certain areas like Namtso, Everest Base Camp, and Mount Kailash, as long as the roads are not blocked by snow. Temperatures during this time may be quite cold.

HimalayanWindows strongly recommends that anyone planning to travel in the Himalayas purchase Travel Insurance. This policy will provide coverage in the case of medical emergencies, evacuation, theft, loss of belongings, and last-minute tour/ticket cancellations. Having this protection in place will help ensure that your trip is safe and enjoyable.
